There are also a number of other wonderful parks in Thornhill mentioned below:
The picturesque setting of Sherwood Park offers a wide range of walking and running trails as well as public bathrooms, picnic tables and 2 wading pools with several spray features. There is also an off-leash dog area located within the park and a large playground. Mill Pond Park
Mill Pond Park is one of Thornhill’s most popular park and outdoor recreation sites. The park takes its name from the sawmill operation that once used the pond for power. The sawmill is an important part of Thornhill’s heritage and storied past. Overlooking the pond you will find a large playground, a boardwalk and trail as well as a gazebo and many areas to sit and relax.
In the winter, Mill Pond Park is a popular place to go skating and play hockey with family and friends. Make sure to check that the ice is safe before skating.
Mill Pond Park is also home to:
- The Annual Winter Carnival.

This former estate garden features a wide range of wild flowers as well as perennials and roses. The stunning colours and flower selections are scattered throughout an extensive rockery. The garden also features a water wheel and many walking trails. The garden is home to the Toronto Botanical Gardens. The TBG offers various programs, garden tours, day camps as well as field trips.
Toogood Pond Park
This 33 hectare park which features a naturalized pond and marsh is home to many kinds of waterfowl and fish. Surrounding the pond are many walking trails, park benches and picnic tables. With its many picturesque viewing points, the park is a popular place for wedding photos and leisurely strolls.
The park is named after the Toogood family and the pond was originally used to power a grist mill in the 1800’s. Many of the original cottages that housed the grist workers have been replaced with spacious luxury homes that ring the park.
